Vol. 438 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ambulance Service.

Liz McManus

Question:

138 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health the improvements, if any, he intends to carry out in the ambulance service in County Wicklow in view of the inadequacies of the existing service.

The provision of the ambulance service in County Wicklow is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

Though the board is satisfied that the current level of ambulance service available to the Wicklow region is adequate and that the response times are within recognised international standards, they are at present involved in carrying out an assessment of need for a possible extension of the day service which is available at Arklow.

In accordance with the recommendations made in the Report of the Review Group on the Ambulance Service, the board is examining arrangements for the early introduction of a mobile coronary care service to County Wicklow.
