I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case. (1) Deputy Durkan — the subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 56 of 4 November 1993, in relation to the importation of a motor vehicle and subsequent imposition of duty; (2) Deputy Finucane — the need to provide funding for re-roofing and other associated works at Adare girls' primary school, County Limerick; (3) Deputy Sargent — the need to initiate legal proceedings in the European Court of Justice against THORP as its commissioning is likely to contravene EU Directives 80/836 (as amended), 85/333 and 90/313, Article 79 of the EURATOM Treaty and the Paris Convention for the Prevention of Marine Pollution from Land-Based Sources; (4) Deputy Connaughton — the non-payment of the special beef premium to farmers, particularly in the case of the application period January-February 1993, when the application form contained misleading information about the stamping of cattle identity cards and the age of animals eligible for the 22 months premium; (5) Deputy Gay Mitchell — the need to sanction the appointment of at least two secretaries to service three schools (details supplied) in Dublin 12; (6) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the inordinate increase in the cost of private nursing home care in the Cork area since the advent of nursing home subvention which is negating the benefit of financial aid to hard-pressed families; (7) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need for funding to enable a person (details supplied) in County Dublin to participate in an astronautics course in the USA in view of the unique honour for this country his qualification for this course represents; (8) Deputy Flanagan — the unacceptable conditions at Edenderry Hospital, County Offaly, and the need for approval for a new unit; (9) Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the lengthy delays in orthodontic treatment of patients in South Tipperary, in particular a person (details supplied) who was assessed in July 1991 and has since been given no indication of when treatment will commence; and the future plans for improvements in this service.

The matters raised by the following Deputies have been selected for discussion: Deputy Durkan; Deputy Connaughton; Deputy Sargent; and Deputy Finucane.
