Vol. 438 No. 7

Written Answers. - Protestant Adoption Agency Support.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

226 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health if he intends to support PACT, the only Protestant Adoption Agency in the country, by way of additional funding during 1994; and the level of support that will be forthcoming from his Department.

I should explain that, under the Child Care Act 1991, the health boards may grant-aid voluntary adoption societies which provide services on their behalf. PACT adoption society receives an annual grant from Eastern Health Board. The provision of additional funding for the society is entirely a matter for that health board.
