249 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the building project for Ballapousta national school, County Louth, in view of the fact that she has included the school in the 1994 building programme; and if she will make a statement on the matter, dealing particularly with the placing of a contract for the project.

254 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the extension to Stabannon national school, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter, dealing particularly with the placing of a contract for the project.

I propose to take Question Nos. 249, 250, 251, 252, 253 and 254 together.

Tender documents for each of the six major building projects referred to by the Deputy are in course of preparation in my Department. When the documents have been completed the projects will proceed to tender stage.

Due to external factors beyond my Department's control it is not possible to say when the contracts will be placed.

255 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the proposed extension to De La Salle school, Dundalk, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position is that my Department has had discussions with the school authority with a view to establishing the appropriate range of accommodation to be provided in De La Salle school, Dundalk. My Department is currently awaiting documentation from the school in this regard.

256 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if all moneys due by her Department to the Redeemer Boys' and Girls' national school, Dundalk, County Louth, in respect of the replacement of a central heating unit and the installation of an intruder alarm system have been paid to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has paid the major portion of the due grant for the central heating and installation of the intruder alarm system at the Redeemer Boys' and Girls' national school, Dundalk, County Louth. However, a small balance has been retained pending the completion of some necessary corrective works to the electrical installation.

257 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the application of Scoil Clochar Mhuire, Castletown Road, Dundalk, County Louth, for assistance towards urgently needed repairs to the school building; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

258 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the position regarding the application of Scoil Chlochar Mhuire, Castletown Road, Dundalk, County Louth, for assistance towards equipment for physical education; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 257 and 258 together.

My Department is awaiting reports from its professional advisers on the application for grant aid for repairs to the school building. When these reports have been received and examined a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities at an early date.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a grant in respect of equipment for physical education. The chairman of the board of management has now been invited to submit a duplicate application which when received will be processed at an early date.
