Vol. 438 No. 7

Written Answers. - Extensification Premium.

Martin Cullen

Question:

48 Mr. Cullen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of producers qualifying for the extensification premium on foot of area aid applications; the total sum involved; the number of animals involved; and the amount outstanding to qualifying producers on 1 February 1994.

Extensification premium is paid to applicants for the suckler cow premium and the special beef premium on animals which qualify for these premia provided area aid applications have been lodged and the stocking density on the applicants' holdings is less than 1.4 livestock units per hectare. Before any applicants can be paid extensification premium for 1993 all applications for suckler cow premium and special beef premium lodged by them in that year must be processed.

The November 1993 suckler cow and special beef premium applications have to be processed before any extensification premium due can be calculated. It is, therefore, not possible at this stage to give the information sought.
