Vol. 438 No. 7

Written Answers. - House Grant Scheme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

115 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will indefinitely withhold the payment of a new house grant to a married couple where the builder has been unable to provide satisfactory tax clearance; and his views on whether he could introduce a procedure whereby couples caught in this way through no fault of their own can make special arrangements to draw down the grant.

As part of the measures to improve tax administration, it is a statutory requirement of the new house grants scheme that certain details be furnished in regard to the C2 certificate or tax clearance certificate of the contractor who built the house. There are no proposals to modify this requirement.
