Vol. 439 No. 2

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House on the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Doyle — difficulties regarding interpretation of the guidelines for the extension of the designated areas scheme; Deputy Durkan — whether the policy of Kildare County Council in relation to eviction for mortgage or rent arrears is in accordance with the Housing Acts, with particular reference to a recent case where a family was evicted during a blizzard; Deputy McManus — the need to provide adequate funding for the refurbishment of local authority houses in Oldcourt and Hazelwood Estates in Bray, County Wicklow; Deputy Dermot Ahern — the provision of extra accommodation at De La Salle College, Dundalk, County Louth; Deputy Creed — the failure to sanction a new water scheme for Macroom, County Cork, which is required to secure existing employment and to facilitate a major industrial expansion by the town's largest employer; Deputy Eoin Ryan — the need to extend the higher education grants scheme to approved courses in designated private colleges; Deputy Theresa Ahearn — the waiting period for orthodontic treatment in County Tipperary, in some cases involving delays of up to four years; and the lack of information as to when patients will be called, in particular in a case (details supplied).

The matters raised by Deputies Doyle, McManus, Theresa Ahearn and Dermot Ahern have been selected for discussion.
