Question:57 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice when the vacant position of Garda sergeant will be filled in Ballynacargy Mullingar, County Westmeath; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda manpower to individual areas, inform me that the sergeant at Ballynacargy station was transferred to Mullingar station on 10 August 1993. The staffing arrangements at the station are being considered in the context of possible developments of the rural policing scheme in the area concerned.
