Vol. 439 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Backlog.

Peter Barry

Question:

71 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment when the backlog of 28,624 households for tenant purchase will be cleared; the number of these that are located in the greater Cork area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The figure mentioned in the question appears to refer to the number of households determined by housing authorities to be in need of housing at 31 March 1993, details of which were published in my Department's Housing Statistics Bulletin, September Quarter 1993.

Regarding tenant purchase, the administration of the scheme, including the processing of applications to purchase by tenants, is the responsibility of housing authorities.
