132 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the Statute under which he is empowered to issue a licence to a private undertaking to market telecommunication services in this country; the relevant section of such Statute; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to licences for the provision, as opposed to the marketing, of telecommunications services. These licences are issued pursuant to section 111 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983.
