Vol. 439 No. 2

Written Answers. - Nurses' Training.

Seamus Kirk

Question:

143 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has to reduce the qualifying age of 24 years for mature nursing students in view of the lower age limit in Northern Ireland.

As the Deputy will be aware, under the Nurses' Act 1985, the rules governing entry to nurse training are determined by An Bord Altranais subject to my approval. I am not aware of any proposals for a reduction in the qualifying age for entry to training as a mature student.
