Question:83 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the diplomatic relationship, if any, between Ireland and Taiwan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Diplomatic Relations with Taiwan.
Ireland recognises the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate Government of China and maintains diplomatic relations with it on that basis.
The question of establishing diplomatic relations with Taiwan does not therefore arise.
