Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

118 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of money paid out to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in the form of headage payments for 1992.

The person named was paid £1,046 on 19 December 1992 under the 1992 cattle headage scheme and was paid £421.80 on 23 December 1992 under the special beef premium scheme on animals applied for in the June-July 1992 application period.

He applied for special beef premium on 19 animals in December 1992 but as he did not keep the animals for the two month retention period as required under the European Union regulations governing the scheme he was not eligible for payment on these animals.

Question:

119 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry was refused a grant under the suckler cow scheme.

The regulations require that applicants applying for the suckler cow premium scheme for the first time in 1993 must have obtained a quota and that the cows on which the premium is sought must belong to a meat breed.

The person in question failed to comply with these requirements.
