Donal Carey

Question:

123 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid his special beef premium for 1992; when he will receive payment of his 1993 grant including suckler cow, beef cow, 22 month premium and ten month premium, none of which he has received to date; and when these files were passed from the Ennis Office of his Department.

The person named applied for special beef premium on 18 animals in December 1992. On 8 February 1994, following the resolution of queries arising on this application, he was paid the special beef premium on the 17 eligible animals listed on this application. He also applied for special beef premium in June and November 1993. The June application is being processed at present and an advance payment will be made shortly. Processing of all applications received in November-December 1993 has commenced and payment will be made as soon as possible.

An advance payment under the 1993 beef cow scheme was made on 7 February 1994. This application is now being processed for final payment. Arrangements are being made for an advance payment under the 1993 suckler cow scheme and this will be paid shortly.
Payment of the balances due under the 1993 special beef premium and suckler cow schemes cannot be paid until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.
