I am seeking permission for the suspension of the Dáil under Standing Order 30 to debate the failure of the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to pay out millions of pounds due to farmers for various livestock schemes dating back 12 to 18 months. Will he employ temporary staff to work on Saturdays and Sundays so as to ensure prompt payment to farmers as the delays are causing resentment and hardship, which if allowed to develop will lead to public riots?
