Vol. 440 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Mayo Commonage Division.

Enda Kenny

Question:

104 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the position regarding claims for the division of a commonage (details supplied) in County Mayo.

An application to divide this commonage was received in the local Land Commission office in Castlebar early last year. As a result a Land Commission inspector contacted the shareholders with a view to assisting them in preparing a scheme to divide the commonage. At a recent meeting of the shareholders to discuss the division two of the seven shareholders were still undecided as to whether they were in favour of the division and a third shareholder did not attend the meeting. The Land Commission is willing to provide technical and legal assistance in the voluntary division of this commonage but they cannot do this until the shareholders reach agreement on the question of division.
