Vol. 440 No. 1

Written Answers. - Family Planning Information.

Liz McManus

Question:

152 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health his views on the information that was produced by his Department on family planning; and if he has satisfied himself that the advice and information is correct.

My Department has produced information on family planning that is available through the following publications: (i) The Book of the Child and (ii) Family Planning and Contraception — A General Guide to the Different Forms of Contraception.

I am satisfied with the advice and information contained in these publications, given that they stress the need to refer to one's general practitioner or family planning clinic as a source of detailed information and advice on people's specific concerns.

However, in response to a number of representations regarding the statement on the upper age limit at which the combined pill becomes unsuitable for general use. I am having this area examined further.
