Question:155 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the allocation for local improvement schemes to local authorities in 1994 in view of the importance of this scheme for rural Ireland.

The provision of £2.5 million for the local improvements scheme this year represents an increase of £0.5 million on 1993. I notified county councils of their grant allocations on 18 February last.
