Vol. 440 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hip Replacement Surgery.

Jim Higgins

Question:

348 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in providing hip replacement surgery for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The Western Health Board has indicated that the patient concerned is on the orthopaedic out-patient waiting list but that it is not possible to give an appointment date at this stage. The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of appointments is a matter for the consultant concerned and urgent cases are always given priority. Should this patient feel that his condition has deteriorated he should return to his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case to the consultant directly.
