Vol. 440 No. 4

Written Answers. - Travelling Traders.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

57 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment the date on which he received or expects to receive the report of the committee to look into the problem of travelling traders; whether this report will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The report of the working group was finalised last month. The group identified the parameters of the problem, reviewed existing legislative and other arrangements to deal with the problem and identified opportunities, both legislative and otherwise, which the statutory agencies concerned might consider to improve their response capacities. I have circulated the report to the relevant Departments for consideration before any further action is decided on. It is not my intention at present to publish the report.
