Vol. 441 No. 2

Written Answers. - Government Contracts.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

91 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the number and names of public relations firms which have obtained Government contracts in the past 15 months; the value of such contracts; the terms of reference; the reason for such contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department does not have any standing arrangements with public relations, communications or media companies for public relations, communications or other similar services. The services of individual companies are used, as necessary, for particular advertising etc. campaigns. Those used in 1993 were listed in the reply to Question No. 148 of 8 February, 1994.

In the first three months of 1994, Arks Ltd. was engaged for publicity work in relation to the registration of electors at a contract price of £12,149, excluding VAT. A sum of £22,437 was paid to Brindley Advertising in the same period in respect of advertising under the Government Supplies Agency contract.
