Vol. 441 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

101 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a suckler grant will be made available to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named was paid an advance of £949.08 under the 1993 suckler cow scheme on 1 February 1994. Payment of the balance due cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. Payment of balance will start shortly.

Question:

102 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry received a reduced grant under the beef cow scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named applied for grants on 12 cows under the 1992 beef cow scheme. He was paid £450 in respect of six cows on foot of this application in 1992. I regret that due to an oversight he was not paid on six of the animals applied on under this scheme. Arrangements have been made to have this payment made within the next two weeks.

He applied for 12 cows again in 1993 under the beef cow scheme. However, as the advance payments under this scheme were based on the 1992 payment he was paid an advance of £360 on six cows only on 23 December 1993. This application is being processed further at present and the full balance due will be paid in the near future.

Question:

103 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a grant under the beef cow scheme and outstanding payment of a grant under the suckler cow scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

When the 1993 beef cow application from the person named was being processed for payment it was found that there was a discrepancy between the acreage declared on application forms submitted for this scheme in previous years and that declared on her 1993 area aid application form. This problem has now been resolved and payment will be made shortly.

The person named was paid an advance of £1,803.25 under the 1993 sucker cow scheme on 21 January 1994. Payment of the balance due under the suckler cow scheme cannot be made until all applications received from her in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. Payment of balances will start shortly.
