Vol. 441 No. 2

Written Answers. - Government Contracts.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

107 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number and names of public relations firms which have obtained Government contracts in the past 15 months; the value of such contracts; the terms of reference; the reason for such contracts; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department engaged one public relations firm, Carr Communications, with effect from 12 January 1993. The terms of reference of the contract cover the provision of advice, assistance and training for my Department in relation to all aspects of public relations and communication through the various media. This firm was retained because of the specialised expertise it can provide in these areas.

The value of this contract is £26,000 per annum exclusive of VAT and certain third party costs which are on the basis of vouched receipts. The fee is subject to review on an annual basis.

The total cost of the contract in the 14 months ended March 1994, inclusive of VAT and other charges, was £41,291.

Ní raibh a leithéid i gceist i gcás mo Roinne-se.

Ní miste a lua, áfach, gur íocadh £1,398 sa tréimhse a luaitear le comhlacht amháin — Montague Communications — a fostaíodh go príomha chun comhairle a chur ar fáil maidir le hoifig eolais i mo Roinnse a fhorbairt. Obair oiliúna ar feadh roinnt laethanta a bhí i gceist don chuid is mó.
