Question:

135 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total cost, total cattle numbers and total number of applicants for the January, February, March and April 1993 slaughter premia; the amount that has been paid; the number of animals; and the number of applicants paid to date.

It is estimated that the total cost of the 1993 deseasonalisation slaughter premium will be close to £12.5 million. The total number of applicants under this scheme is some 16,300. To date, £12.013 million has been paid to 15,949 applicants in respect of 228,014 animals.
