Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - Area Aid Applications.

Edward Nealon

Question:

163 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if photocopies of maps were acceptable to his Department for area aid purposes in 1993; if so, the reason photocopies are not acceptable in 1994; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department needs to have confidence in the accuracy of any maps submitted with area aid applications, and is, therefore, asking for official Ordnance Survey or Land Registry maps with those applications. Such maps are legible and true to scale which unofficial photocopies frequently are not. Our experience in 1993 was that the quality of may photocopies was in several instances less than that required to enable the necessary checks to be completed by my Department.
