Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - Advertising and Printing.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

93 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Finance if confidential Circular No. 10/48 discontinuing bilingual advertising and restricting bilingual printing issued by his Department on 3 June 1948, is still in force; if so, the reason therefore; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Tony Killeen

Question:

94 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the existence of confidential Circular No. 10/48 of 3 June 1948; and whether it has been withdrawn.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 93 and 94 together.

Confidential Circular 10/48 concerning bilingual advertising and printing gives effect to a Government Decision of 14 May 1948.

While it does not seem to have been withdrawn or replaced, it is general policy that citizens should, where possible, have access to forms in their preferred language, be it Irish or English.
