Question:123 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment if all local authorities have accepted the new purchase scheme which was published by him in 1993; and when this scheme will be implemented.
Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Scheme.
The adoption and implementation of the tenant purchase scheme announced last year is the responsibility of each local authority. From the information available in my Department, I understand that Clare County Council is the only authority that have not yet adopted the scheme for its area. My Department is in communication with the council regarding its adoption of the scheme as soon as possible, and I want to ensure that eligible tenants who wish to purchase their houses are given the opportunity to do so without further delay.
