Bernard Allen

Question:

104 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence, in respect of annual training, the amount deducted from the FCA and Slua Muirí in each of the years 1990 to 1993 for officers and men, for rations, accommodation, PRSI, showing the amount separately and giving the numbers of each rank; and the numbers of each rank on annual training.

Bernard Allen

Question:

105 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence if the PRSI deductions from pay of the FCA and Slua Muirí are notified to the Department of Social Welfare; if the personal records of the individuals concerned are credited with these deductions; and the benefits that are provided by these deductions.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 104 and 105 together.

The amounts deducted from members of An Forsa Cosanta Áitiúil and An Slua Muirí in respect of rations, quarters and PRSI in the period 1990 to 1993 were as follows:

The amounts of PRSI deducted are remitted to the Office of the Revenue Commissioners, with PRSI contribution details, for onward transmission to the Department of Social Welfare. It is a matter for that Department to record details of the PRSI contributions to the credit of the personnel concerned. PRSI deductions are made at the class J contribution rate, which covers personnel in respect of occupational injuries benefits.
I will arrange to have details of numbers of personnel, by rank, who attended annual training in the period in question forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
