Question:

108 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the number of FCA officers, by command and unit, who do not live in the unit area of operations; the number of FCA officers, by command, who have been granted permission to reside outside the State; and whether he has satisfied himself that all units can function properly at officer level with the shortages arising from the above.

Bernard Allen

Question:

111 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the number of females who have enlisted in the military police FCA to date; the number who have been promoted to corporal to date; the number of female pattern military police caps required by such personnel that have been issued; the number that are available or will be made available in 1994 for those who cannot fulfil their military police role without them; and the reason non-availability of essential dress was not foreseen when directing recruitment of females to military units.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 106, 107, 108, 109 and 111 together.

The information requested regarding the number of FCA officers living in unit areas of operations and the number of women enlisted in FCA units of the Military Police Corps is not readily available but is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible. The remainder of the information sought is set out as follows:
