Vol. 441 No. 6

Written Answers. - FCA Dress.

Bernard Allen

Question:

110 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the number of FCA personnel issued with working dress tunic, by command, in each of the years 1991 to 1993; the number of FCA personnel, by command, who have been issued with overcoats in lieu of working dress tunic before they have completed 12 months service; and the reason this has not been extended to all those who have not received working dress tunic.

It has not been possible to compile the information sought by the Deputy in the time available.

I will arrange to have the information forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Question:

112 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence if he has satisfied himself that FCA members are being issued with all their entitlements of dress under Defence Force Regulations R5 on enlistment to enable them comply with military dress regulations; the reason for different practices in each command area; if unit commanders are allowed change regulations; and, if so, on whose authority.

Defence Force Regulations specify the articles of clothing to be issued to each recruit on enlistment to the FCA. Occasionally, a particular item may be unavailable and when this happens the matter is rectified as quickly as possible.

Defence Force Regulations are Statutory Instruments and can only be amended by the Minister.
