Vol. 442 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mission Statement.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

15 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of copies of the Mission Statement issued by his Department in January 1993; the total cost of production and distribution; and the progress to date in implementing its proposals.

The Mission Statement was published by my Department in September, 1993 and the total number of copies issued to date is approximately 2,500. The total cost of producing the statement was £16,414.25.

It is not possible to calculate the distribution costs as every division of the Department was responsible for issuing the statement to its own clients and contacts and various methods of distribution would have been used.

The purpose of the Mission Statement is to define the role and objectives of the Department of Enterprise and Employment. As such the statement does not contain a set of proposals to be implemented. Rather, it is a statement of the goals of my Department accompanied by a set of objectives for each division within the Department and the names of the senior personnel whose responsibility it is to achieve them. The implementation of these objectives is an ongoing process.
