Vol. 442 No. 5

Written Answers. - Arts Council Grants.

Paul McGrath

Question:

172 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the grants paid to applicants in County Westmeath and County Longford from the Arts Council for each of the years 1990 to 1993; and the proposed allocations for 1994.

I have been informed by An Chomhairle Ealaíon that details of grants paid in Counties Westmeath and Longford in the period 1990 to date are as laid out in the attached Table.

In addition, Westmeath and Longford have benefited from visits by professional theatre touring companies such as Druid, Gallowglass and Charabanc, under the theatre touring scheme operated by An Chomhairle. Also, high quality musical events have taken place in the two counties under the auspices of Music Network, which is supported by An Chomhairle. The special exhibition scheme for schools has toured schools in Westmeath and Longford and An Chomhairle's Writers-in-Schools scheme has been availed of by schools in the counties.
