76 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, he proposes to take to ensure that payments to farmers under the special beef premium will be at least maintained at their present rate.

There is no proposal to reduce the rate of the special beef premium. The CAP reform package, which was adopted in June 1992, provides for annual increases in the rate of the premium each year up to 1995.
