Question:

82 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Taoiseach the number of full-time farmers and part-time farmers in Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan in each of the years 1953, 1963, 1973, 1983 and 1993.

The precise information requested by the Deputy is not available for the years indicated.

The following table provides information from the Censuses of Population held in 1951, 1961, 1971, 1981 and 1986 on the numbers of persons whose principal occupation was described as "Farmer".
