Vol. 442 No. 5

Written Answers. - Freedom of Information Regulations.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

115 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment if the regulations on freedom of information are being reviewed in view of the fact that information is often not available to complainants living far from the relevant local authority and visits must be during office hours to view planning documents and copies are not allowed to be made.

Wexford): I intend shortly to review the operation of the Access to Information on the Environment Regulations, 1993 which have now been nearly a year in force. In this context, I will be inviting views or comments from interested persons and organisations. Note will be taken of the matter raised in the question, and if the Deputy wishes to provide further details, these will also be considered.
