Vol. 442 No. 5

Written Answers. - Meat Exports.

Ivor Callely

Question:

130 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total value of our meat exports to Germany over the past five years; the expected growth in coming years; the targets set; if recent restrictions announced effect such targets; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The value of our meat exports to Germany over the past five years are set out in the following tabular statement:

Year

IR£ Million

1989

59.8

1990

53.9

1991

68.6

1992

96.7

1993 (estimated)

100.0

It is expected that Irish meat exports to Germany will increase by about 5 per cent annually over the next five years. Since no restrictions have been imposed on such exports, there is no need to revise these targets.
