Vol. 442 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Question:

136 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if the difficulties of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in obtaining payment in full under the slaughter premium for beef cattle will be rectified so that he will be paid the full complement he applied for.

The person named applied for slaughter premium on 94 animals. Processing of his application was delayed due to the manner in which the form was completed. There were 14 tag numbers entered twice, three tag numbers entered three times and two other tag numbers included for animals slaughtered outside the specified time. His application was processed for payment on 76 animals at a reduced rate because he included two animals slaughtered in May 1993. On 23 March 1994, he was paid on 68 animals. He has not yet been paid on the remaining eight animals because the special beef premium has not been paid on the animals bearing the tag numbers listed on his application. Further investigation of the tag numbers of these eight animals will be necessary to establish if the special beef premium was paid under different tag numbers as it is possible that they are animals which have been re-tagged since the beef premium was paid on them. Only after this investigation is completed can it be decided whether or not slaughter premium payment can be made on these eight animals.

Jim Higgins

Question:

137 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo received payment for only one animal instead of the three applied for under the beef premium scheme.

The person named applied for ten months special beef premium on three animals in November 1992. When the application was processed for payment it was found that he had already been paid the ten months premium on two of the animals listed. A payment of £35.15 for the remaining animals was made on 15 April 1994.
