Vol. 442 No. 7

Written Answers. - Provision of School Resource Teacher.

Paul Bradford

Question:

71 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if she has received further correspondence requesting that she receive a deputation from Cloyne National School, County Cork, to discuss the question of a resource teacher for the school; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the school authorities have been seeking the appointment of such a teacher over the past number of years; if she will respond favourably to the request; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have received the correspondence to which the Deputy refers and I am aware of the strong desire on the part of the school in question to secure the services of a resource teacher.

I very much regret that due to my heavy schedule of commitments, I would not be in a position to meet a delegation from the school.

However, I can assure the Deputy that I have arranged for the needs of this school to be taken fully into account when decisions are shortly being taken on the allocation of additional remedial and resource teacher posts.
