41 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Defence the total cost to the Exchequer of his private and press offices, including the cost of civil servants, programme managers, advisers, consultants, entertainment and travel in respect of the 12 month period ending 30 April 1994; and the comparative figure for 1991.
The estimated cost of my private office, including the press officer, in the Department of Defence for the twelve month period ending 30 April, 1994 was £176,000. The estimated comparative figures for the 1991 calendar year was £204,000.

Mitchell asked the Minister for the Marine the total cost to the Exchequer of his private and press offices, including the cost of civil servants, programme managers, advisers, consultants, entertainment and travel in respect of the 12 month period ending 30 April 1994; and the comparative figure for 1991.
The estimated total cost of my private office for the twelve month period ending 30 April 1994 was £224,428. The estimated comparative figure for the 1991 calendar year was £267,515.
