Question:

80 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the total cost to the Exchequer of his private and press offices, including the cost of civil servants, programme managers, advisers, consultants, entertainment and travel in respect of the 12 month period ending 30 April 1994; and the comparative figure for 1991.

The estimated total cost of my private and press offices for the 12 month period ending 30 April 1994 was £303,000.

The Department of Tourism and Trade was established in January 1993 and therefore there are no comparative earlier figures.

Question:

81 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the total cost to the Exchequer of his private and press offices, including the cost of civil servants, programme managers, advisers, consultants, entertainment and travel in respect of the 12 month period ending 30 April 1994; and the comparative figure for 1991.

The total cost to the Exchequer of the offices in question amounted to £157,000 for the twelve month period ending 30 April, 1994.

The Department of Transport, Energy and Communications was established on 12 January 1993 and accordingly it is not possible to provide a comparative figure as sought by the Deputy.
