Vol. 442 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - County Limerick Teacher Appointment.

Michael Finucane

Question:

110 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if a school (details supplied) in County Limerick will have a home school liaison teacher appointed in view of the fact that they applied for this over two years ago and the school inspector has recommended this teacher based on the unique circumstances of the pupils attending this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the particular needs of the school in question.

As stated in my announcement on the 1994 education budget, I propose to allocate 15 additional co-ordinator posts to the home-school community liaison service at primary level with effect from September next.

The process of selecting schools for inclusion in the expanded home-school community liaison service is currently under way in my Department and the needs of the school in question, together with all applicant schools, will be considered in this context.
