Vol. 442 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - County Limerick School Staffing.

Michael Finucane

Question:

113 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that a primary school (details supplied) in County Limerick retains its seventh assistant teacher in view of the fact that the school is only one pupil short of the 1994 quota; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The staffing of a national school for a particular year is determined by the enrolment in the school on 30 September of the previous year. The enrolment of the school referred to by the Deputy on 30 September 1993 was 226 which warrants a staffing in the 1994-95 school year of a principal and six assistants. The seventh assistant' post will be suppressed at the end of the current school year. The teacher in question has been placed on the diocesan panel for redeployment.
