Vol. 442 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Debts Owing to ICC Bank.

Bernard Allen

Question:

6 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance the companies that have debts with the ICC as a result of receiving loans and investments from Fóir Teoranta prior to its closing down.

The amount net of provisions owed to ICC Bank in respect of loans and investments made by Fóir Teoranta stood at £5,679,000 on 10 May 1994. This figure breaks down into debts of £5,255,000 and investments of £424,000. The number of firms to which Fóir Teoranta advanced loans or in which it made investments and in relation to which loans or investments are still on the Fóir Teoranta books as at 10 May 1994 is 92, of which 68 have loans outstanding only, 14 have investments and loans outstanding and 10 have only investments outstanding.

It is not the practice and has not been since 1982 to reveal the names of the client firms involved.
