Vol. 443 No. 6

Written Answers. - Complaints Against Gardaí.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

46 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice the number of complaints dealt with by the Garda Complaints Board in each of the years 1991 to 1993; the number of such complaints found to be groundless, vexatious, or based on malice; whether the Director of Public Prosecutions or any other person took action against the complainant to vindicate the good name of the garda about whom such a complaint was made; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The information sought for the years 1991 and 1992 is published in the Garda Complaints Board's Annual Reports, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas library.

The 1993 figures will not be available until the annual report for that year is published later this year.
