Vol. 443 No. 6

Written Answers. - Inquest Findings.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

47 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice if the inquest in the case of a person (details supplied) who died in an accident at Abbey Farm, Celbridge, County Kildare, on 28 November 1993 has been concluded; if the findings are known; if a prosecution is pending; if statements have been sought or given; if any tests were made; if the deceased's family have been given any information as to the cause of the accident and/or future developments in this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the inquest in the case in question was held at Dún Laoghaire Courthouse on 23 February 1994. The verdict of the jury was that the deceased had died "as a result of multiple injuries due to a road traffic accident".

As regards the investigation of the accident, the Garda have submitted a file in the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions and, as such, I do not regard it as appropriate to make any further comment in the case at this time.
