Avril Doyle

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

74 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice the firms in which investment was made by foreign nationals as part of the process of application for naturalisation under the business migration scheme from 1986 to 1994; and the amounts in each case.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

75 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice the number of applications for naturalisation made under the business migration scheme in each of the years from 1986 to 1994 broken down by nationality; and the number of such applications accepted and rejected, broken down by nationality.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 66, 74 and 75 together.

It is not the practice, having regard to the privacy rights of the persons concerned, to comment on the circumstances of individual cases. Details of the issue of certificates of naturalisation are published in Irish Oifigiúil in the prescribed manner. The statistics which are available of applications linked to investments which were granted indicate that there were seven in 1994 to date, 15 in 1993 and 17 in 1992. The applicants were nationals of the United States of America, Uruguay, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Canada, the Philippines and the Netherlands. Details of applications prior to 1992 are not maintained in a manner which would facilitate their extraction from the overall number of applications for naturalisation.
