70 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice if she will ensure that drug addicts who do not suffer from HIV who are committed to Mountjoy prison and other prisons will receive more than three days treatment in view of the fact that at present they only receive more than three days treatment if they have the virus.

In view of ongoing developments in community based treatment programmes for addicts, the director of prison medical services is now considering how prison based treatment may be improved in line with public health practice in the wider community.
