Vol. 443 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Garda Superintendents.

Tony Gregory

Question:

72 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the number of Garda superintendents who have had charge of the Dublin 1, Store Street Garda district over the last five years; if this is an above average turnover; and if it constitutes a lack of commitment to this area by the Garda authorities.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, including the current superintendent at Store Street station, a total of five superintendents have served there in the past five years. While this may be somewhat above average, it is important to note that of the four superintendents who have left the station during this period, three left on promotion to chief superintendent rank. The high quality Garda officers who have been assigned to the district is an indication of the commitment to the Store Street district by the Garda authorities.
