Vol. 443 No. 8

Written Answers. - Drugs Offences.

Ivor Callely

Question:

65 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the situation in the Dublin area compared to other urban areas of the country in relation to drug trafficking and drug pushing; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have dealt with the drugs situation in this country on many occasions in this House and most recently in relation to Dublin, on 9 March 1994 in response to a question tabled by the Deputy on the subject Official Report, vol. 440, cols. 387-388).

Information on the number of persons charged with drug offences in Dublin and in other areas of the country is contained in the annual report of the Garda Commissioner, copies of which are published and are available in the Oireachtas Library. I expect that the Commissioner's report for 1993 will be published shortly.
