Vol. 443 No. 9

Written Answers. - Potential Over-Fishing.

John Bruton

Question:

38 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Marine if the issue of potential Spanish and Portuguese over-fishing of Irish waters will be placed on the agenda for the next EU summit.

It is a matter for the Presidency to propose the agenda for the European Council in the first instance. Given that the fisheries elements of the review of the Iberian Act of Accession are currently being handled at the Council of Fisheries Ministers, it is not envisaged that the matter will be placed on the agenda of the European Council in Corfu on 24 and 25 June next.
